What is Xylitol?

Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol that looks and tastes just like sugar.

Xylitol is found in and extracted from the fibres of birch trees as well as many fruits and vegetables, including various berries, corn husks, oats, and mushrooms. It is also produced in the human body during the normal metabolic process. Although Xylitol has been around for more than a century, it was first popularized in Europe as a convincing sweetener and a healthier alternative for diabetics.
